Is it possible to complete my analysis in 1 day with your daily rate?
Yes, as it is easy to set up a 3D model in TSLOPE using surfaces exported from your CAD or geological modelling system. We have provided the daily licence in response to user requirements.
How do I get my model into TSLOPE?
The best way to generate your slope model is to use your geological modelling system, or CAD package. The 3D surfaces can then be transferred as a cloud of points, or in DXF, or OBJ format into TSLOPE.
When does the licence period start?
The licence period starts when the licence is activated on your system, not when payment is made. TSLOPE allows you to build a model before activating the licence. The licence activation is only required when you click the SOLVE button.
How robust is the method of analysis?
You always get a solution. The Ordinary Method of Columns always gives an answer. As does our implementation of Spencer’s Method in 3D which calculates and reports the out-of-balance forces and moments, thus providing an estimate for “error” of the result. We do not have an error message “algorithm failed to converge”.
Why does TSLOPE only have two methods for analysis?
We have implemented the Ordinary Method of Columns (OMC) and Spencer's method for both 2D and 3D. The direction of sliding calculated by the OMC is needed as a starting point for Spencer's method in 3D so that you always get the OMC result, even if you specify Spencer’s method. Spencer's method in 2D and 3D is able to satisfy full force and moment equilibrium and is the most stable of such methods that “fully satisfy equilibrium”. There is no point offering other methods which you will rarely, if ever, use.
Can you do seismic analyses with TSLOPE?
Only pseudo-static analyses. An automatic search for the critical seismic coefficient is included. This can be used in simplified methods of computing deformations. See, for example, the Treasure Island case study. We are working on adding computation of displacement using the Newmark method with user-specified site-specific acceleration histories as input.
I only have a 2D section showing my slope!
You can import the table of points defining your 2D slope into TSLOPE or specify them by hand. There is a tool for extruding this into a 3D model assuming no change in slope geometry away from the 2D section. In due course we will offer converters for other popular slope stability programs.
