3D Slope Stability Analysis of Mine Waste Dumps

Reyes, Garma and Parra present a 3D limit-equilibrium analysis of mine waste dumps, comparing 2D and 3D factors of safety. Results show that 2D sections often misrepresent critical slip surfaces due to irregular geometry and heterogeneous waste materials, while 3D analysis captures realistic spatial variability and nonuniform slip development.
