Discrete Element Method for Slope Stability Analysis

Chang introduces a discrete-element approach for modelling slope stability, representing soil as interacting particles rather than a continuum. The method captures progressive failure, grain-scale deformation and non-linear stress–strain behaviour. DEM results are compared with LEM predictions to show differences in failure mechanisms.
