McCombie presents a kinematically–based multiple–wedge method for analysing rock slope stability. Instead of computing only a factor of safety, the approach predicts potential displacements by combining wedge mechanics with a displacement‑based failure criterion. The paper compares the new procedure with conventional limit–equilibrium wedge methods and illustrates how considering displacement demand can change design decisions for reinforced and unreinforced rock slopes.
