Influence of Fines Content on the Undrained Cyclic Shear Strength of Sand–Clay Mixtures

Kim, Kim and Zhuang perform cyclic triaxial tests on sand–clay mixtures and demonstrate that the threshold fines content (~20%) governs whether shear behaviour is controlled by sand structure or clay matrix. They introduce the equivalent granular void ratio to unify cyclic strength correlations across mixtures.
