Geotechnical Reliability of Dam and Levee Embankments

Technical report for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that applies reliability methods to the stability of earth dams and levees. The work develops probabilistic models for shear strength, pore pressure and geometry, then uses them to compute failure probabilities for representative sections. It compares traditional factor-of-safety design with reliability-based assessments and highlights where conventional factors may mask high risk levels.
