Leshchinsky and Ambauen compare LE (Spencer, Morgenstern–Price) and limit analysis (upper bound with DLO) across benchmark slope stability problems. They show LA can detect more critical failure mechanisms in complex geometries where LE assumptions limit accuracy. The study provides insight into when LA methods may be more appropriate than traditional LE.
