Travis and co-authors compile a database of 301 documented slope failures from around the world. The paper describes the database structure, including slope geometry, soil and rock types, loading conditions, groundwater conditions, triggering events and the analytical methods originally used. The authors classify failures by mechanism, material type, rainfall or seismic influence, and the reported factors of safety at or prior to failure.
