A New Three-Dimensional Hoek–Brown Strength Criterion

Jiang proposes a 3D generalisation of the Hoek–Brown rock mass strength criterion. The method formulates the full 3D failure envelope using stress invariants, improving representation of rock-mass anisotropy and principal stress rotation. The paper demonstrates applications to 3D slopes and underground excavations where non-planar stress states are dominant.
