Development of a Probabilistic Kinematic Wedge Sliding Analysis Procedure and Application to a Rock Slope at a Hydropower Site in China

This paper develops a probabilistic kinematic wedge-sliding method incorporating joint uncertainty, block geometry variability, and seismic loading. Monte-Carlo sampling is used to generate distributions of potential wedge configurations, and failure probability is computed based on admissible joint intersections and driving forces. A case study from a hydropower project in China demonstrates how probabilistic outputs differ from deterministic wedge analyses.
