Seismic Slope Safety: Determination of Critical Slip Surface Using Acceptability Criteria

Tan’s PhD thesis develops a framework for seismic slope safety assessment based on acceptability criteria. The work integrates probabilistic characterisation of earthquake loading and soil properties with search procedures for the critical slip surface under seismic conditions. It links calculated factors of safety and displacements to acceptable risk levels and proposes practical design charts and procedures for engineers.
