Slope Stability Computations

Janbu reviews and extends limit-equilibrium methods for slope stability with an emphasis on non-circular slip surfaces. He presents general slice formulations, simplified and generalised methods, and the use of stability numbers to interpret results. The chapter links analytical procedures with soil mechanics concepts such as effective stress, pore pressure and mobilised shear strength.
