Morgenstern and Price develop a general limit-equilibrium framework for non-circular slip surfaces that satisfies both force and moment equilibrium. They introduce a flexible representation of interslice forces using a scaling function, giving rise to what is now known as the Morgenstern-Price method. Examples show how different interslice force assumptions and pore-pressure patterns affect calculated factors of safety.
